Method One
Double knitting wool, No 7 (4.5mm) needles – the squares need to be 6″ by 6″
Cast on 30 stitches using garter stitch (all rows)knit until the sides of the squares measure 6 inches(about 52 rows)
Alternative method:
Cast on 2 stitches and K1 work in garter stitch increasing by 1 stitch at the beginning of every row until the two ends measure 6 inches
Now continue knitting but knit 2 stitches together at the start of every row
K2 together and fasten off
For both methods – please leave a long piece of wool to help with the sewing up approx 30 cm at beginning and end.
A completed shawl is 7 sq x 9 squares = 63 for a blanket- 6 inch per sq.
